Dunmore 1 have had varied fortunes so far in the mixed league. They opened their account with two wins, at home to Kilmacthomas by 4-3 and away to Tourin by the same score. They have suffered two setbacks since then, losing the return fixture with Kilmacthomas by 4-3 and also losing 5-2 to Ballyduff. Hopefully they will return to winning ways in their next outing.
Present and former members of the club were saddened by the news that Eddie O’Shea had passed away after a period of indifferent health. Eddie was a member of Dunmore Badminton Club for almost 40 years. His wife, Helen, and son, Paul, had also been enthusiastic members.
A quiet, unassuming man, Eddie loved his badminton and was a loyal and popular club member. He continued to attend the Tuesday morning sessions until relatively recently. Eddie’s commitment was exemplary and he always did his utmost not to let his team down.
A large group of members formed a guard of honour as his remains were carried from St Paul’s Church to the hearse prior to the sad journey to his final resting place. Dunmore Badminton Club offers its sincere sympathy to Helen and family. May he rest in peace.
